Tuesday's Copperas Cove Independent School Board of Trustees meeting was about Bulldawg Stadium.

The board discussed renovations to stadium's the scoreboard and repairing or replacing the turf.

The board voted on a budget amendment to have the scoreboard renovated after revenue generating advertising sections of the board stopped working last fall.

After an investigation, it was found the non-working portion could not be repaired or replaced using the same technology, so the board approved the $48,800 quote presented by Olen Williams Inc. for an electronic version of the non-working portion of the scoreboard and any new software required.

The estimated revenue from the non-working portion has been about $13,500 per year.

After almost eight years of the same turf, the school board has been researching options for new turf.

The current turf was installed in 2001. The expected life of artificial turf and the warranty associated is approximately eight years.

Deputy Superintendent Dr. Bobby Ott said the district has had to make repairs to the turf already.

The board has met with four vendors for quotes on repair and replacement of the turf.

According to Ott, Copperas Cove High School's Athletic Direction Jack Welch took some of the athletes to fields that have been installed by the prospective vendors. The players had the opportunity to run on the fields and provided a report to the board.

No decision was made at the meeting because the issue is still in the research and information gathering stage, but will be held until April's school board meeting.
