For Inez Faison, a willingness to serve and a dedication to children has led her to volunteer for several organizations within the city — now she has another to add to the list. During last week’s Copperas Cove Independent School District’s board meeting, Faison was appointed to fill the Place 1 trustee position vacated by Mary Ann Glass.
“Inez will bring many perspectives to our existing board that will help move our district forward,” said CCISD Deputy Superintendent Dr. Bobby Ott. “She has a deep commitment to the children of this community as evident in her involvement in YMCA, Boys and Girls Club and Civic Organizations that support Copperas Cove children.”
Faison has lived in the community for more than 19 years and has three children enrolled in the district. Currently she is involved with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Copperas Cove, Noon Exchange Club of Copperas
Cove, Altrusa International of Copperas Cove, Copperas Cove Crusaders AAU Basketball, Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Texas, ASPYN (After School Program in Your Neighborhood),Lady Dawgs tip off club and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
“It is truly and honor and a privilege to serve. ‘To whom much is given much is expected,’” Faison said. “Serving on the school board gives me the opportunity to champion for our youth and to be a great steward of our tax dollars.”
The appointment comes following the retirement of Glass, who served more than 10 years on the board. Faison will serve out the remainder of the term and will have the option to run for election to the board.
“I have no changes or goals in mind at this point,” said Faison. “I want to take the next 5 to 6 months to learn all that I can about being an effective school board trustee.”
