The Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors chose Candy Outfitters as their Business of the Month for December.
For a shop filled with sugary confections and tasty treats, it was the sweet dispositions of the small business’ owners that made the ambassadors choose the business for the honor, said Diann Drussell, chamber ambassador from the Economic Development Corporation.
“They always have a clean, customer-friendly and welcoming environment,” Drussell said. “They remember their customers, but most of all, they remember their community.”
The business likes to hold fundraisers for local organizations and can often be found behind the scenes quietly doing good things for their fellow Covites, Drussell said.
The owners prefer to just “do the right thing” without the need of publicity for their actions.
“They will also be hosting two small (home-based) businesses this year for Small Business Saturday,” she said. “They will welcome them to come in and set up shop for the day.”
The decision came as a surprise to owners Michael and Jennifer White.
“It’s definitely an honor. We were really surprised, because our main focus has always been on customer service and keeping a nice, clean store,” Michael White said. “It will be one-year (today) that we held our grand opening for this place.”
As for his wife, being named business of the month was “sweet.”
“It was a wonderful surprise — I’m just blown away,” she said. “I love my community. I’m so glad we’re here.”
Candy Outfitters will be display the Business of the Month banner until the January business is chosen. They are at 184 W. Business U.S. Highway 190, Suite 1.
