Pet lovers will have a chance to show their furry friends just how much they love them by taking care of their health-care needs while saving some cash at the discount pet vaccine clinic Feb. 17.
The Copperas Cove Animal Control will host the clinic from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Copperas Cove Civic Center, 1206 West Avenue B.
Kevin Keller, the Copperas Cove public information officer, said the city decided to offer the clinic as a comprehensive alternative to high-cost pet care for residents in the surrounding area.
“The city has offered this same type of event in the past and anticipates doing so in the future,” Keller said in an email. “We hope that pet owners will take this wonderful opportunity to care for their pets.”
Vaccinations for dogs and cats, such as rabies, DHLP, parvo, corona, and bordetella will be available at the clinic. Pet owners may choose to obtain single vaccines at individual prices or opt for a complete yearly vaccination package for $20. Animal control will also offer micro-chipping for an additional $20 and city licenses for $3 for pets living in Copperas Cove.
David Wellington, senior animal control officer, said another clinic will be held in August.
“We do have an ordinance to register your pet with the city yearly,” Wellington said. “So, this is a good opportunity to register them and you get (their) rabies shot at the same time.”
The clinic is open to the public. Individuals do not need to be Copperas Cove residents to attend.
