An urgent care facility will open its doors in Copperas Cove on Monday in the Five Hills shopping center under a doctor who is used to treating the Bulldawgs.
Dr. William Marsh, who owns the Central Texas Sport and Spine group practice in Killeen and has been serving as Copperas Cove High School’s sports physician, is opening Precision Urgent Care.
“I have been their team physician since 1998,” Marsh said. “If I put (an urgent care) anywhere I am going put it in Cove, because I have strong ties to the community there.”
The facility, with three triage rooms and two private exam rooms, will offer a variety of services, said Rachel Jensen, of the medical billing department.
Patients can be treated for sprains, factures, dislocations, illnesses, pre-employment physicals and more. Lab and x-ray services also can be completed on site.
“This is not just for illnesses or injuries. It’s for occupational health issues, too,” Marsh said.
The facility hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. They make it easy for people to access health care when traditional clinics are closed, without having to go to an emergency room, Jensen said.
“We are a cheaper, faster alternative to the emergency room, when you are not having a life-threatening emergency but need to be seen.”
Precision Urgent Care will be manned by nurse practitioners, and Marsh will serve as the facility’s medical director.
“Our nurse practitioners have worked both in emergency rooms and urgent care facilities, so they have a strong background in providing urgent care services,” Jensen said.
Precision Urgent Care will accept Tricare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Scott & White, First Care, Medicaid and Medicare and other insurance plans.
Marsh said the Cove area has a shortage of medical facilities, so he anticipates getting business from surrounding communities.
“People in Cove in the past had to go else where to find health care,” Marsh said.
“We are bringing the health care to them. Having an urgent care center brings them into the 21st century.”
