2014 Polar Bear Swim

The City of Copperas Cove invites the public to attend the 2014 Polar Bear Swim on Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. The annual event will be at the City Park Pool, located at 1206 West Avenue B. Participants can register at www.teamsideline.com/copperascove or the Parks and Recreation office at 1408 Golf Course Road. Preregistration is $15 per person and registration at the event is $20.

PSAT test interpretation

On Jan. 30, Copperas Cove High School will provide a PSAT test interpretation. This event is for parents and all 10th- and 11th-grade students who were administered the PSAT in October at Copperas Cove High School. The PSAT event will be at 6 p.m. in the CCHS cafeteria.

Nursing Scholarship Program

The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 8577 is announcing participation in the Nursing Scholarship Program for the Department of Texas Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW. This year Texas will be giving out three scholarships. First place will be $2,000, second place $1,500 and third place $1,000.

Submit a double-spaced typewritten 300 words or fewer essay on “Why you chose a nursing career.” All entries need to be submitted to Joyce Weideman by April 1. Any nursing student who is accepted as a nursing senior for the fall 2014 academic session qualifies as long as the following applies: Student must be attending a Texas college or university and must be an American citizen with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
