The discounts posted in stores in Cove’s Five Hills shopping center ranged from 25 to 70 percent off in the days after Christmas, and shoppers took advantage of the sales.

Marian Harrison, of Cove, spent some time at Bealls looking for bargains.

“I don’t do Black Friday,” she said. “I shop the week after Christmas.”

Coming over from Kempner, Julie Smith browsed the Bealls racks as well. “I’m looking for sales,” she said.

A buy-one-get-one 50 percent off deal was offered by Rack Room Shoes in the days after Christmas, along with 25 percent off athletic shoes.

At Maurices, shoppers were invited inside with the chance to score 75 percent off clearance items.

“Most everything in the store has some kind of discount,” said Lexus Blackmon, a Maurices sales clerk.

Blackmon worked Tuesday, which was very busy, she said. By Wednesday, customer traffic had lightened considerably.

Anytime Fitness didn’t have an after-Christmas sale, but the Cove location will be offering a deal for those making a new year’s resolution to get fit, according to manager Caitlin Fritz. New members signing a 12- or 18-month membership contract will be able to enroll for $1.

“The enrollment fee is usually $99,” Fritz said.

Anytime Fitness’ enrollment fee discount will be available through Jan. 7.
