Chick-fil-A is seen in the Five Hills shopping center in Copperas Cove. The grand opening is Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at 6 a.m.

Copperas Cove residents can get excited about “eating more chicken” thanks to the addition of the newest fast food vendor to hit the Five Hills shopping center.

Chick-fil-A will hold its grand opening Thursday at 6 a.m. at its new location, 202 Robert Griffin III Blvd. The new restaurant will create 70 new jobs, seat about 155 and will offer free Wi-Fi Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“Our focus on freshly prepared food and personal customer service is as central to our new restaurant as it was the day (Samuel Truett Cathy, the founder of the chain) opened his first Chick-fil-A location,” said Stephen Kennedy, franchise owner. “That commitment continues for me and my team members at our new Copperas Cove location, where we can’t wait to continue welcoming and serving our guests in the community.”

The name Chick-fil-A is synonymous with the First 100 Giveaway, which is held 24 hours before its grand openings, and the Copperas Cove location is no different. The first 100 adults, 18 and older, standing in line when the doors officially open will receive one complimentary meal, consisting of a chicken sandwich, medium waffle fries and a medium drink, every week for one year.

On Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Chick-fil-A also will be collecting new items to support the Coryell County Rainbow Room in an effort to help provide for abused and needy children. Those donating to the charity will receive a coupon good for one free chicken sandwich.

“The charity was selected by Stephen Kennedy because his goal is to have a positive impact on the Copperas Cove community from day one, by supporting local charities and school fundraisers,” said Cindi Pickett, Chick-fil-A spokeswoman.
