Flapjack Fundraiser Saturday

Boy Scout Troop 258 will have a Flapjack Fundraiser breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar in Copperas Cove. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased in advance from any member of the troop or at the door.

Run 4 Hope Saturday in Cove

Jackrabbit Run 4 Hope is from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Ogletree Gap Park. The event features a 5k, 10k and a run/walk and raises funds for Hope Pregnancy Center. The registration fee is $22 before Saturday or $25 on race day. Call Ben at 254-289-6330 or Alan at 254-338-7426.

Rabbit Fest Pageant Saturday

The annual Rabbit Fest Pageant is at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Copperas Cove Civic Center. All ages from infant to senior ladies are eligible to enter, including boys up to age 8. The pageant is open to anyone living in Texas. Nearly $40,000 in gifts and prizes will be awarded to both contestants and winners. Applications may be downloaded at www.rabbitfest.com, and will be accepted until the day of the pageant. Call 254-213-1521 or email rabbitfestpageant@gmail.com.

Car show Saturday aids police

The Law Enforcement Explorer Program, with support from the Copperas Cove Police Department, will host a car show fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of 804 E. U.S. Highway 190. The entire event is “donation only” and all proceeds will go directly to LEEP. This is a family friendly event for all ages.

Cooties meet Sunday in Cove

Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent 13 holds the monthly scratch at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at VFW Post 8577 on Veterans Avenue.

Cove seeks youth advisers

Copperas Cove is accepting applications to fill positions on the Youth Advisory Council. The purpose of the council is to define specific ways to address youth community issues and the development of activities and programs designed and promoted through the city and the Copperas Cove Independent School District. The council also will encourage and promote the education of youth regarding government and the importance of youth input, participation and responsibility. The council consists of 20 youth members, one adult liaison, and one council liaison, appointed to two-year terms each.

Eligible youth participants must be current Copperas Cove ISD students in grades 8-12 in good standing. To be eligible for the adult liaison position, applicants must reside within Copperas Cove. Church plans bazaar

Robertson Avenue Baptist Church Youth Bazaar is from noon to 6 p.m. May 17 at 305 E. Robertson Ave. Help youth raise money for summer camp, youth activities and conference by shopping. There will be craft vendors, popular reps, a live auction and a small meal served for a donation. Call 254-547-3155.

Rabbit Fest starts next week

Join the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce as it presents the annual Rabbit Fest. The event will take place May 15-18 at Copperas Cove City Park. Each year, more than 20,000 people attend the festival, which offers food and craft vendors, carnival rides, live entertainment, softball tournament and the Rabbit Fest parade from 10 a.m. to noon May 17 on Avenue D. Parade entry categories include band, car/motorcycle club, civic organization, float, marching group, performing group, and youth float. Trophies will be presented to large floats and bands only. All others will receive ribbons. The parade begins at the north parking lot of Copperas Cove High School and travels up Avenue D to the back of Cove Terrace Shopping Center. Softball tournament next week

The annual 2014 Rabbit Festival Softball Tournament is May 16 to 18 in the Copperas Cove City Park, 1204 W. Avenue B. To register a team, call Mark Willingham at 254-542-2719 or email mwillingham@copperascovetx.gov. Space is limited. Entry is $200 per team.

Project graduation donations

The parent representatives of the 2014 Copperas Cove Project Graduation Organization need monetary and nonmonetary donations to make goody bags, gifts, giveaway prizes and help to defray the cost of the event. Email cchsprojectgrad2014@gmail.com.
