KCCB announces decorating contest

Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful is announcing the seventh annual Holiday Decorating Contest. Eligible entries are tactfully decorating in the spirit of the holidays and within Copperas Cove. To enter, e-mail nominations with name, address and phone number to kccb@copperascovetx.gov. Nominations are accepted Sunday through Dec. 13. Awards will be presented for the top three locations by Dec. 19. Call Liz Sherman at 254-547-7571.

Ministries present Christmas drama

Hillside Ministries present the musical drama “Bethlehem’s Big Night” at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at Hillside Ministries Killeen Campus, 3601 Edgefield, at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 and at 10:45 a.m. Dec. 15 at Hillside Ministries Cove Campus, 2602 South Farm-to-Market 116. Admission is free. Call 254-547-3349.

MOC sponsors Christmas auction

The Military Order of the Cootie, Pup Tent 13 is sponsoring the annual Christmas Auction on Dec. 7 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8577, 1506 Veterans Ave., Copperas Cove. Proceeds will go for veterans programs.Events are as follows: Cake Walk from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Dime a Dip from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and auction from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Call MOCA Chairman Juanita Workman at 254-652-9080.

Nikolaus visits Catholic church

The Nikolaus-Bishop is visiting Holy Family Catholic Church from 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 8. There will be German cookies, cakes, coffee and tea, and singing of German advent songs. There is no charge. Kids crafts and nursery are available. Call Bettina Blackburn at 254-681-4777.

City to host Souper Bowl

Copperas Cove Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Central Texas Souper Bowl TAAF Warm-up Tournament Dec. 7 and 8 at the Copperas Cove City Park, 1206 West Avenue B. The entry fee is $125 per team with a $1 discount per nonperishable food item. Food donations will go directly to Cove House. Registration deadline is Dec. 4. Cove House has Christmas store

The Cove House Emergency Homeless Shelter, Inc. will have its second annual Christmas store from noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 14 at Grace United Methodist Church, 101 West Ave F, Copperas Cove. All gifts run under $7. The Cove House is still in need of new toys for the store. Donations can be dropped off at Cove House. Volunteers are also needed. Contact: mchuslage@covehouse.org

Bass Club in need of fishing gear

The Copperas Cove Bass Club is accepting fishing gear such as rods, reels and tackles for the annual kids fishing derby at the Copperas Cove pond in February. Drop off donations at Lil’ Tex Restaurant in Copperas Cove or call Ray at 254-630-3532.

Christmas tree lighting ceremony

The City of Copperas Cove invites the public to attend the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday adjacent to the Public Library, 501 S. Main St. One family will be selected during the evening to light the tree. Free hot chocolate and cookies will be provided while waiting for Santa’s arrival.
