Oakalla Volunteer Fire Department hosts dinner

The Oakalla Volunteer Fire Department is hosting the annual all-you-can-eat fajita dinner and auction from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

The auction starts at 7 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Auction items include handcrafted goods, metal art, donated items, Western decor and tools. There will be live music and gun raffles.

KCCB to hold worm composting class

Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful is holding a worm composting class from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 9 at the Copperas Cove Public Library meeting room. Sign-up is required, and the class is limited to 20.

Kempner churches host fall festival Saturday

Four churches in Kempner are hosting a fall festival with games, music, free hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and prizes. The event is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Sylvia Tucker Memorial Park, 12614 W. U.S. Highway 190, Kempner, and is free to the public with a canned good to stock the community’s food pantries.

Cove EDC wins award

The Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation was recognized for its entry in the Texas Community Economic Development Awards program. The Copperas Cove EDC entered its many land exchanges with Fort Hood that culminated in subsequent development of those properties. See more on this story Sunday at kdhnews.com.

FFA plans meeting
