City facilities closed today for holiday

In observance of Thanksgiving, all city facilities, to include the Solid Waste Department, are closed today. The city’s transfer station is closed as well.

Thursday’s trash routes will be collected today.

Republican women to meet Dec. 6

The final 2012 meeting of the Central Tri-County Republican Women will be at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Holiday House, 908 E. Fourth St. in Lampasas.

The meeting will be held jointly with the Lampasas Republican Club.

There will be a potluck dinner, with meat and drinks provided. Attendees should bring a salad, a vegetable or dessert.

The Central Tri-County Republican Women donated $200 in new toys as part of the Christmas Toy Drive, conducted by the Lampasas Republican Club.

Baptist church hosts jamboree Dec. 8

Bull-riding event Dec. 1 in Kempner

The Five Hills Cowboy Church will host a bull-riding event, in cooperation with the Centex Order of the Purple Heart and Rocking G Rodeo Production, at 3 p.m. Dec. 1.

Highlights include 30 header, 8-Short Go and mutton bustin’ for children. Tickets are $10 at the gate. There will be a concession stand on site.

Hearing screenings set for Senior Center

Hearing screenings are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Copperas Cove Senior Center, 1012 North St.

Public invited to auction

Military Order of Cootie Ladies Auxiliary No. 13 will have its annual Christmas auction Dec. 1 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8577, 1506 Veterans Ave., in Copperas Cove.

Proceeds will go to VA hospital programs. The Ladies Auxiliary will have raffle tables in support of their programs. A cake walk and lunch are from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the auction is from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
