Cove Library offers programs for kids

The Copperas Cove Library offers Toddler Time from 10 to 10:45 a.m., Story Time from 2 to 2:45 p.m. and a Santa visit on Thursday.

Anger management class Tuesday

Aware Central Texas offers an anger management class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, 300 W. Avenue B. The cost is $5 per person.

Hettie Halstead sets anniversary party

Hettie Halstead Elementary School is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a ceremony from 4 to 5 p.m. Dec. 5. A come-and-go reception will take place at school, 910 N. Main St. All former teachers and administrators are invited.

Republican women to meet Thursday

The final 2012 meeting of the Central Tri-County Republican Women is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Holiday House, 908 E. Fourth St. in Lampasas.

The meeting will be held jointly with the Lampasas Republican Club. There will be a potluck dinner, with meat and drinks provided. Attendees should bring a salad, a vegetable or dessert.

The Tri-County Republican Women donated new toys worth $200 as part of the Christmas Toy Drive, conducted by the Lampasas Republican Club.

Member Gail Lowe, who served on the Texas Board of Education for many years, will be honored. State Rep. Sid Miller will present a plaque to her.

Public invited to Christmas auction

Military Order of Cootie Ladies Auxiliary No. 13 will have its annual Christmas auction Saturday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8577, 1506 Veterans Ave., Copperas Cove.

Proceeds will go to VA hospital programs.

The Ladies Auxiliary will operate raffle tables. A cake walk and lunch are from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the auction is from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

Immanuel Lutheran celebrates German Gottesdienst Dec. 9

The Immanuel Lutheran Church of Copperas Cove will celebrate its annual Advent Gottesdienst, a German service, at 6 p.m. Dec. 9.

The guest preacher is the Rev. Otto Brillinger.

Coffee and refreshments will be served in the parish hall after the service.

Everyone is invited to attend.

The church is at 922 Lutheran Church Road in Copperas Cove.

Retired teachers plan dinner, auction

The Copperas Cove Retired Teachers Association will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 7 for its annual Christmas dinner and fundraising auction at Grace United Methodist Church, 101 W. Avenue F, Copperas Cove.

The meal will be catered by Liz DiSimoni and will cost $10 per person. Members should make reservations soon. Make checks payable to CCRTA and send them to Sara Barnes, 3010 Grimes Crossing, Copperas Cove.

Members are reminded to bring a wrapped gift for the auction, a canned good for the church food pantry and children’s books or a monetary donation for the Children’s Book Project.

Bull-riding event Dec. 1 in Kempner

The Five Hills Cowboy Church will host a bull-riding event, in cooperation with the Centex Order of the Purple Heart and Rocking G Rodeo Production, at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Highlights include 30 header, 8-Short Go and mutton bustin’ for children.

Tickets are $10 at the gate. There will be a concession stand on site.

The church is at 139 County Road 4630 in Kempner.
