Lutheran church plans barbecue
The Men’s Club of the Immanuel Lutheran Church will have its annual barbecue at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 1.
The menu consists of brisket, sausage, potato salad, beans, dessert, tea and coffee. The cost of the meal is $10 for an adult, $5 for children 5-11 years old and free for children 5 and younger.

AgriLife Extension offers well screening
The Texas Well Owner Network, in partnership with the Coryell County offices of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Leon River Watershed, Texas Water Resources Institute and with support from the Texas State Soil and Water Conversation Board, is providing a water well screening for residents June 10 at the Coryell office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
Samples need to be turned in by 10 a.m. and will be screened for common contaminants. The cost is $10 per sample.
A meeting explaining screening results will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 11 at the Coryell County Commissioner’s Courtroom at 205 S. Seventh St. in Gatesville. Pick up a sample bag and sampling instructions from the Coryell County A&M AgriLife Extension Office at 303 Veterans Memorial Loop in Gatesville.

Mother Neff park schedules trail day
To celebrate the end of the school year and the beginning of summer, Mother Neff State Park will hold a trail day hike from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday June 1.
The exhibits and the hike are free; however, there is a $2 entrance fee to the park for each person age 13 or older. The first 75 hikers will receive a bottle of water sponsored by the Mother Neff State Park Association.

Robertson Avenue Baptist Church has 'fun-filled week'
Enjoy a free fun-filled week from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m June 9-13 at Robertson Avenue Baptist Church, 305 East Robertson Ave., Copperas Cove. Free kids meals will be served from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.

Oakalla VFD plans fish fry and auction
There will be a fish fry and auction at the Oakalla Volunteer Fire Department Saturday June 1. Fish will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. The auction starts at 7 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children under 12 years old.
Auction items will include hand-crafted items, metal arts, western décor, plants and donated items from local businesses and community members. There will also be a rifle raffle during the auction. CTAS to host free public star parties
The Central Texas Astronomical Society will host free public star parties from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at Overlook Park outside Belton, The Waco Wetlands outside Waco and the Hubbard City Lakes Park in Hubbard. The Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8577 will present awards to the Patriotic Art winner at 7 p.m. Monday, June 3 at Hummer Hall, 1506 Veterans Ave., Copperas Cove.
