Pat Waters is living the dream.
For the past 20 years, the Texas-born country singer has toured, recorded and performed with legends like Merle Haggard.
Over those two decades, there wasn’t much Waters didn’t see or do. But one experience was notably absent.
“I have never been blessed with performing for our soldiers,” he said. “But I know it will be my favorite.”
Waters will have the chance to discover if that sentiment is true tonight when he and his band and several other acts perform at Hood Stadium for the Independence Day celebration.
“It’s truly an honor to give back to the soldiers,” he said. “I look forward to it.”
Waters had several successful songs throughout his career, including a No. 1 hit in Europe.
For Waters, Texas is home.
“Man, I love Texas. I always love performing here,” he said.
“Now I get to play for our nation’s heroes.”
Since his early start playing at small venues, Waters has released nine CDs.
Every single he released made its mark on the Texas music charts, he said.
Pat Waters and the Chainlink Band will also perform at Bo’s Barn in Temple on July 26.
