The City of Copperas Cove in conjunction with the City of Lampasas and the Central Texas Council of Governments Solid Waste Advisory Committee will host a household hazardous waste collection event at 9 a.m. Saturday at 201 Brown St., in Lampasas.

The event is open to residents of Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Milam, Mills and San Saba counties, city spokesperson Kevin Keller said.

“This is a great opportunity for our citizens to clean out their houses, garages, sheds, etc., and dispose of any potentially dangerous household waste,” he said. “The city appreciates the opportunity which the CTCOG has provided to our citizens to participate in this event.”

Acceptable items include used oil and petroleum products, paints, pesticides/herbicides, antifreeze, household cleaners, acids or other chemicals, batteries and small household electronics. However, fire alarms, smoke detectors, explosives, medical waste and large appliances or pressurized containers and construction debris will not be accepted.

Also, old tires will be accepted for a fee of $2 per tire.

“Disposal of old tires can be very costly so we encourage our citizens to make the drive and dispose of the items properly and efficiently,” Keller said.

Contact Keller at 254-547-4221 or kkeller@copperascovetx.gov.
