The Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove celebrated 17 years of service to the community by giving back about $8,500 to five organizations that help families and children who are victims of abuse.
The club hosted its annual office installation dinner June 29 at Texas Land & Cattle in Killeen, where it presented awards and funding to the organizations.
“The Noon Exchange Club is chartered from the National Exchange Club whose sole purpose is to raise money for child abuse prevention, education and support of families,” said Dennis Ayres, incoming club president. “Each group sent us a letter requesting support and our board of directors divvy up the money based on need.”
The club raised about $17,000 this year through a variety of fundraisers, such as the Quad Cities Ride for a Child and the Volksmarch for Child Abuse Prevention.
Local groups that received checks during the dinner were: Hope Pregnancy Center, $1,500; Community in Schools, $1,000; Rainbow Room, $1,000; Families in Crisis, $1,500; and Aware Central Texas, $3,500.
