Tish Ann Roque, 42, lives in Copperas Cove. She is a graduate student and works as a substitute teacher.

Where are you originally from?

I am a military brat and was born in a place called Kingsville, I grew up in Beeville. My family is originally from Texas so that is why I eventually migrated back to this area.

What do you like about Copperas Cove?

I like the size of the community. I like the fact that it is somewhat rural with the ranches and such in the area. I love the fact that there is something to do here and it is a quiet area.

Tell me about your family.

I have a brother who is in the military. He lives in Copperas Cove and is currently stationed at Fort Hood. My family is from New Braunfels — that is where the rest of my family lives. I have two handsome boys, Matthew, 11, and Ethan, 9.

What are you studying in school?

I am attending the ACT program. This program will help me to become a teacher. I currently have my bachelor’s degree in social work. I used to be a child protective service case worker.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I hope to have my master’s degree in counseling and to be teaching full time.

What do you look forward to the most?

New beginnings. A chance to do things I have never done. Hopefully my life will be about positive things that the future holds for me and my family.

What was the best advice that you were ever given?

Love is a decision. When you decide to love you always win.
