Jason Swanner, 36, is a Copperas Cove Junior High math teacher.

How long have you been teaching?

This is my 15th year in the district. When I first started in the Copperas Cove district, I was a teacher’s aide. Then I got a teaching job.

Tell me about your family.

My wife attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and I was at Howard Payne University. My sister and my wife were roommates at Mary Hardin-Baylor, and that is how I met my wife. My wife and I have three sons, and we got married on Fort Hood in 1999.

What church do you attend?

My family and I attend Hillside Ministries, the Copperas Cove campus.

What would you name your autobiography?

“Swanner’s Amazing Circus/Musical.” I would call it this because I have three boys ages 11, 7 and 18 months. We stay on the go a lot with different activities.

If you could know the answer to any question besides “what is the meaning of life,” what would it be?

Why are mosquitoes so attracted to my head? I walk into a room, and they literally just find me and sting my head.

Are you involved in the community?

I do community work with my church, Hillside Ministries. I coached youth sports for several years. I am part of the planning (committee) for the community backyard music roundup. It is where we bring in live music, sometimes local musicians and other Christian events designed to give back to the community. It is a family event full of activities for kids and barbecue. The event is held every first Saturday in May. Everything is free. We take donations, and everything is given to a local charity. We are trying to get other churches involved in this event.
