Stephanie Friedel used to work as a bartender in Harker Heights, but since taking over as general manager four years ago at her husband’s family-owned Topsey Exotic Ranch, she has found her dream job.

“My grandparents live in Iowa, and they have a small farm, so I’ve always been around animals,” she said. “It’s stressful, and it’s a lot of work – it’s an all-day, every day operation, so we’re up here literally every day of the year – but we love it.
