Carrie Harris, owner of GymKix, is ecstatic over the recent performances of Copperas Cove kids who participated in gymnastic events.

Plenty of individuals stood out: Carina Lippert, Kaytlyn Lytle, Rachel Blakeney, Kylie Hayhurst, Ashli Hawkins, Alicia Austin, Bianca Dudley, Kimberley Cimmino, Ashley Wilson, Bonde Usrey, Alyssa Firth and Christina Lewis.

The ACA National competition was host to over 350 teams from multiple states. The area “Senior Blue Team” earned a national championship. In addition this team received a bid to compete at The Summit competition at Disney World in Orlando.

“Originally the company was not slated to hand out bids, but due to the high perfection score they called us today and offered the team a prestigious bid,” Harris said. “Only the top 10 percent of teams in the United States are given this honor! It is a huge accomplishment for our small-town girls with their big-time hearts.

“I don’t have words to express the struggles that our ‘Senior Silver Team’ has endured to overcome so many obstacles. They had to make changes to almost the entire routine only one day before this big national (event). Many would have given up but this group of girls proved that hard work, diligence and dedication to their team members and their sport pays off!

“They are true athletes in every sense of the word and most importantly a TEAM!

“Our goal was to just make the top three and they ended up besting nine other teams in their division to win the national championship and won $500 for their High Point Award (scoring higher than over 40 other teams in their division).

“The Royals Gymnasts have simply blossomed and for many this was their first meet of the season. It is a blessing to have just one of your teams place at Winter Games but to have all eligible levels place in the top three is a testament to the hard work of the athletes and the coaches.”

The following placed for “The Texas Extreme Cheer Teams”: Mini Blue–third place; Youth Black – ninth; Junior White–third; Senior Blue — national champion; Senior Silver – national champion and high point winner (pictured below).

The Royals Gymnastics program also competed this past weekend at the Winter Games in Plano.

Highlights included: Team Category: Level 2, First Place Small Team Award; Level 3, First Place Small Team Award; Level 4, Third Place Large Team Award; Level 5, First Place Large Team Award.
