Alzheimer’s Association class

The Capital of Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will offer a free class on “Conversations about Dementia” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 27 at Grace United Methodist Church on West Avenue F in Copperas Cove.

The class is designed for caregivers of people with dementia, to help them openly talk with family members about challenging and sensitive topics. A light lunch will be served.

The event is free but registration is required.

Ladies Auxiliary scholarships

The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 8577 will accept entries for the Young American Patriotic Art competition. Participants must submit entries to the scholarships chairman or the Auxiliary president by March 31.

The art scholarship competition is open to Texas high school students, including home-schooled students. Foreign exchange students are not eligible.

Auxiliary member scholarships

The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 8577 has scholarships to assist members who wish to further their education by pursuing a college degree or a career direction at a technical school.

Only the spouse, daughter or son of a member are eligible to apply. The scholarship applicant must be 18 years of age or older.

The qualifying member must have been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW for one year prior to the application.

The application must be received by Feb. 15 at the director of programs, Ladies Auxiliary VFW National Headquarters.

High school reunion for 1960-1964

A reunion for the combined Copperas Cove High School classes of 1960 through 1966 will be May 24 at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Farm-to-Market 2657 in Kempner. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. and light refreshments will be served. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The class of 1964 is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
