The Copperas Cove Public Library hosted a free business information class Tuesday on business-related resources available to business owners and those looking to start their own enterprises.

“Not everyone thinks of the library as a place for business information,” said library director Kevin Marsh. “We’re trying to emphasize the resources that we do have here, which are great and varied.”

During the class, Marsh showcased some relevant books from the library’s resource collection, such as the Business Plans Handbook and Business Forms on File. Both contain useful business plan samples and form templates that can be photo-copied for home use.

Marsh also highlighted the various business magazines and periodicals available at the library for people who would like to keep up with current market trends.

“The class was helpful. ... It pointed me in the right direction,” Antonio Baker said. He found out about the class during a visit to the library.

A major portion of the class session focused on the many Internet resources available to library card holders. Online databases like TexShare and OverDrive are free to members who acquire the access password through the library. The databases contain thousands of books and journal articles on just as many subjects.

The free class was part of the library’s Brown Bag Lunch program.

A repeat of the business-resources session is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the library.
