Fireworks prohibited

The City of Copperas Cove reminds citizens that fireworks are prohibited within the city limits.

This ordinance will be strictly enforced by the fire department, police department and Code Compliance.

Residents outside the city limits are encouraged to contact their county officials for information regarding fireworks and possible restrictions.

City facilities closed today

In observance of Independence Day, all city facilities will be closed today including the Solid Waste Transfer Station.

There will be no solid waste collection for residential or commercial customers.

Controlled natural gas flaring

Atmos Energy crews and contractors will oversee a controlled natural gas flaring beginning at approximately 8 a.m. daily Monday through July 11 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 190 and Gibson Street.

The company will be testing the integrity of the gas pipeline in the area as part of routine maintenance operations.

People in the area will notice a large controlled flame and moderate noise during the flaring operation.

The city, fire and police departments, Bell and Coryell Sheriff’s offices and 911 operators were advised of the flaring.

Hills of Cove Junior Golf Camp

Copperas Cove will hold its Hills of Cove Junior Golf Camp twice this summer for youths ages 4-15. The classes will meet from 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Each camp is limited to 20 members at a cost of $100 per person. Camp 1 will be from Tuesday through July 17.

Camp 2 will be conducted from July 22 to July 31.

Miss Heart of Freedom pageant

Central Texas Miss Heart of Freedom pageant to benefit Operation Phantom Support-Killeen will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The community is invited to enter or just support the event.

The registration fee is $45 plus 15 nonperishable food items.

Attire for the event is red, white and blue.
