The Texas Economic Development Council recognized the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation with an Economic Excellence Award for the sixth year earlier this month.

“We believe that we are doing a good job and that we are using the best practices in the operation of the corporation,” said Monica Hull, Cove EDC director of business development.

“I think the fact that we do have a master plan with established tasks and goals helps us stay on track, and this award recognizes that.”

It is important to have third-party recognitions in the economic development business, Hull said. They help validate that the organization is serving its mission.

“We value the work that goes into receiving this award,” said Dan Yancey, the Cove EDC chairman.

The award demonstrates the Cove EDC is receiving proper training and has developed and instituted developing an effective master plan that serves the community by creating additional economic growth opportunities, Hull said.

Cove EDC was one of 16 economic development organizations in Texas to receive the award.
