The 29th Annual National Night Out is from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 2. The Copperas Cove Police Department invites all neighborhoods in Copperas Cove to be part of the Night Out 2012 team.
This event is designed to heighten awareness for crime prevention and drug prevention, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The police department is asking residents to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.
Suggestions include block parties, cookouts, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anti-crime and anti-drug rallies.
Block party registration forms can be obtained from Sgt. Kevin Keller at (254) 547-8222 ext. 6956 or firstname.lastname@example.org or picked up at the Copperas Cove Police Department or go to www.copperascovetx.gov.
