COPPERAS COVE — Police arrested a man suspected of choking a woman and then showing police how he did it.

Justice of the Peace Bill Price arraigned Marcos Dario Navarro, 21, of Copperas Cove, on Tuesday on a charge of assault by impeding breath or by circulation. Price set his bond at $5,000.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 3:11 a.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, where allegedly Navarro fled the scene in a white Volkswagen Beetle, an arrest complaint stated.

While one officer interviewed the victim, a second officer located the vehicle and reportedly pulled over Navarro.

The victim and a witness told officers that Navarro placed his hand over the victim’s mouth and pressed his arm into her neck during an argument about money, the complaint stated.

Police observed scratches, redness and a cut lip on the victim that were consistent with the victim’s and witness’ stories, the complaint stated.

Navarro reportedly told officers he restrained the victim and when they asked him how he did it, he demonstrated a method also consistent with the victim’s and witness’ statements about the incident.

Price also arraigned:

  • Sabrina Ann Francis, 40, of Copperas Cove, on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance, more than 1 gram but less than 4 grams. Price set her bond at $10,000.
  • Linda Dalet Dunson, 36, of Copperas Cove, on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram, in a drug-free zone. Her bond was set at $8,000.
  • Danny Jay Robbins, 30, of Copperas Cove, on two charges of theft of property, less than $1,500, with two previous convictions. Price set two bonds at $10,000 each.
