COPPERAS COVE — Police arrested two men found with drugs Monday during a traffic stop.
Justice of the Peace Bill Price arraigned Keavy Nakia Blalock and Scott Alan Formby on Tuesday on charges of possession of a controlled substance, more than 4 grams, but less than 200 grams. Price set bond at $8,000 each.
According to an arrest complaint, police were notified about 6 a.m. Monday that a white Dodge Ram was driving recklessly on U.S. Highway 190.
The officer spotted the vehicle in the 2100 block and followed it into the Cactus Motel parking lot without activating any lights, the complaint stated. The officer noticed Blalock was acting nervous as he and Formby exited the vehicle.
A second officer arrived on scene and received permission to search the vehicle, the complaint stated. The officers found 7.9 grams of methamphetamine in a fanny pack with Blalock’s name on it, and Formby told officers he had methamphetamine in his pocket after they learned there was a pending warrant for his arrest. The drugs in Formby’s pocket weighed 49.9 grams with packaging, police said.
In an unrelated incident, Price arraigned Duncan McKenzie Purnell on Tuesday on a charge of burglary of a habitation. Price set his bond at $8,000.
