Cub Scout Pack 251, parents and siblings held their annual Christmas party Dec. 18.

Cub Master Scott Mitchell started the Christmas party with a speech and gave out awards to the Scouts for a variety of achievements.

Each Cub Scout, his family and siblings could get a picture with Santa Claus, who showed up wearing a 19th-century suit.

Santa gave each Scout a kit to make his own pine wood derby car.

The Cub Scouts had the chance to decorate birdhouses, donated by Home Depot. There was an area marked off as a theater featuring a classic Christmas cartoon. Additionally, local community businesses such as Walmart donated some of the decorations for the pack’s party.

The Scouts exchanged wrapped books after photos with Santa Claus. Wolf Scout Daniel Smith said his favorite part was the book exchange.

”I got an awesome SpiderMan book,” he said.

Adults participated in a silent auction.

“I love all the different activities,” said Kimberly Anglin, mother of Webelos Scout Corbitt Anglin. “This way, none of the children are bored or have to wait in long lines to see Santa.”

Assistant Wolf den leader Jasmin Smith said the Christmas party was a good way for parents to interact and talk about what the next year will bring.
