2014 will be an exciting year for all of us that live, work and play in Copperas Cove.
Major development events will occur almost every month, bringing new investment and more jobs to our community.
I know we will see a lot of residential construction in and around Copperas Cove, but residential development is not what we do here at the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation.
Therefore, my writing will focus on 2014 commercial and industrial development activities.
Here are just a few of the things we can look forward to:
By midyear, both of the bypasses will be open and all of us will have figured out how to use them best. For three years, I have been telling the merchants located on U.S. Highway 190 that lessening the amount of congestion will be good for business.
Now, my theory will be tested and you, the residents of Cove, will be the people who decide that now is the time to patronize our Business 190 commercial businesses because getting in and out of the parking lots of those businesses will be easier and safer than before.
The Five Hills Retail Center will continue to expand as more businesses not currently located here will see the benefits of coming to Cove.
Endeavor Real Estate Group, the owners of Five Hills, will purchase the remaining acreage known as Phase II and continue its aggressive marketing efforts.
The development of Narrows Business and Technology Park, Cove’s first shovel-ready site of this kind, will be completed by midyear and ready to accept tenants that fit our target industry profiles.
These tenants will mostly fall into the category of “primary job creators.” Their products and services will enhance the economy of the community by bringing new wealth and opportunities.
2014 will be the year the Copperas Cove EDC board of directors will finally realize the dream of creating a place where fledging businesses can get their start. It will be called the Copperas Cove Entrepreneur Center and will house four businesses at a time. Much more information regarding this effort will be available soon.
I also see 2014 as the year we will see new businesses open up on the west side of our city. The City of Copperas Cove and the Copperas Cove EDC will combine efforts and resources to move that along as quickly as practicable.
Our future is bright and getting brighter.
