The Copperas Cove Morning Exchange Club on Wednesday recognized the men and women of the U.S. Air Force at Fort Hood As part of its Proudly We Hail program.

Col. Thomas Bell and Chief Master Sgt. Jerry Campbell of the 3rd Air Support Operations Group discussed some of the Air Force’s activities at Fort Hood and other area installations.

Bell said he served in the military for 23 years. “And I’ve never seen a community reach out to us on an Army base like this. It’s good to know that we are looked at fondly by the community.”

Club member Jim Rudd reported on the regional Exchange meeting in Fort Worth. He said the club won awards for patriotism and community service, the travel gavel, the “Big T” award and a child abuse prevention award.

Rudd inducted new members Liz Sherman and Betty Price. Sherman was pinned by her husband, Michael, and Price was pinned by member Marty Smith. Wayne Turner, the only active founding member of the club, was presented with a founder’s pin.
