The stabbing death of 21-year-old Kirsten Nicole Farr on Feb. 23 at an IHOP restaurant in Killeen shocked residents in both the cities where Farr lived.

She left behind many grieving friends and family, including her 3-year-old son, Davion Albanese, and her best friend Ashley Arnold.

“I wanted to do something to honor her and to try and help her son,” said Arnold, who held a fundraiser Saturday and will have a car wash to raise additional funds for Davion’s college fund at 10 a.m. Saturday at Elmore’s, 2711 E. Veterans Memorial Way.

Arnold met Farr one year ago when they were bartenders at Buster’s Sports Bar.

“She was always happy and everyone who knew her knew she was great,” Arnold said. “It’s sad that it took losing her for everyone to come together and be there for each other.”

Saturday was supposed to be Arnold’s going-away party. She and Farr planned a girls’ night out before Arnold left for Oregon on Tuesday.

Farr had a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, Thomas Jeffrey. He was charged in her murder and is currently being held in the Bell County Jail on a $1 million bond.

“She didn’t talk about it much,” said Arnold, wiping away tears. “Her son still thinks she’s at work. I want people to know that if you’re in a bad situation, there’s a way out. Please talk to someone. Don’t be ashamed to ask for help.”
