Members of the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce are reminded and encouraged to RSVP to the annual chamber banquet by the end of today.
The banquet, set for Jan. 26, is organized to be a casual networking and recognition event for members of the chamber.
This year’s banquet will have a 1950s theme and participants are encouraged to wear costumes for the event.
“We always encourage being dressed in costumes,” said Betty Price, chamber president. “We try to have the dinner coordinate with the theme. With the ’50s, we’re doing gourmet burgers and we’ll have a sundae bar set up.”
A live band, The Morticians, will make a repeat appearance at this year’s banquet as well.
As of Wednesday, about 90 people responded that they will attend.
Last year’s banquet attracted between 140 and 150 people, Price said.
“It’s an opportunity for us to recognize businesses and individuals who have been supportive of the chamber,” she said. “There’s always a networking opportunity, and a chance for us to present awards and certificates to businesses of the year, ambassadors, volunteers, things like that.”
Besides businesspeople, city, county and state representatives have also been known to attend the banquets.
This year’s event will begin at 7 p.m. with dinner being served about 7:30, after participants have had an opportunity to socialize.
After food is served, awards and recognitions will be presented, Price said.
“We encourage all our chamber members to attend,” she said. “It’s a great opportunity to relax in a less-formal setting, network and visit with friends you may not have seen in a while.”
Non-chamber members may also attend if they are invited by a member.
This year, the banquet will take place at Holy Family Social Hall, 1001 Georgetown Road. Reservations are $60 per person or $360 per table.
