Jack Barcroft of Gatesville is the new chair of the Coryell County Republican Party.

GATESVILLE — The new chairman of the Coryell County Republican Party said he has “the bandwidth” to be actively involved in county politics.

Jack Barcroft of Gatesville was named to succeed Ed Thompson of Copperas Cove, who resigned as county chairman June 20 after serving more than six years.

“I look forward to taking care of the business of the party, which is winning elections,” Barcroft said.

Barcroft said Thompson did “a phenomenal job” as county chair, and his stepping down was not a surprise.

“We knew it was coming,” Barcroft said. “He had been kicking around the idea of retirement since the birth of his granddaughter and figured now was a good time.”

Thompson and his wife, Peggy, were frequent and vocal observers at county commissioners court meetings, and Barcroft said he too would be actively engaged.

“I work online, so I have the latitude to be active here in the county.”

Barcroft works in sales for the New York-based WorkMarket.com, a company he described as an “online contractor-sourcing solution” provider. He has been with the company for two years.

Born at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, Barcroft spent his early childhood in West Texas before his family moved to Gatesville in 1985 when he was in third grade.

He and his wife, Faith, have been married 13 years and have 9- and 10-year-old daughters. They live in the Fort Gates area of Gatesville.

Jack Barcroft is a dear friend of mine and I'm sure he'll make a wonderful Chairperson for the party!
