Solid Waste hosts fall clean-up

The Copperas Cove Solid Waste Department is hosting a fall clean-up from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. The event is for Copperas Cove residents and businesses with active waste accounts only. No contractors. Bring a utility bill and ID. Acceptable items are household trash and junk, brush, yard waste, appliances, recycling, tires, used oil and anti-freeze, up to 5 gallons. Unacceptable are construction debris, household hazardous waste and cooking oil. Call 254-547-4242.

Feast of Sharing set for Thursday

The Noon Exchange Club and the city are hosting the annual Feast of Sharing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Copperas Cove Civic Center. The free dinner is for everyone. Get tickets at the Boys & Girls Club, Senior Center, Cove House, Our Brothers House Food Pantry, Housing Authority, Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce, Clear Creek Meadows Office and Exchange Sunshine Apartments. Bountiful New Life hosts Thanksgiving

A Thanksgiving dinner will be served to the community in need from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 23 at Bountiful New Life, 115 E. Avenue E, Copperas Cove. RSVP by leaving a message at 254-547-5007. People without reservations will be served as well.

Relay for Life kicks off Saturday

Free ‘shred-it’ day Nov. 23 in Cove

Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful, National Bank of Central Texas and Fort Hood Recycle are holding a free “shred it” day from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 23 at the National Bank of Central Texas, 408 S. Main St., Copperas Cove. Call Silvia Rhoads at 254-547-4242.

Local band to appear at Unity Baptist Church

Cove library hosting brown bag lunch

The Copperas Cove Public Library is hosting a free brown bag lunch at noon Thursday. Lunch will be provided by the sponsor, First Command Financial Planning. Topic of the lunch will be “Investing in a turbulent economy” and presented by Fidelity Investments Senior Vice President Kyle Haines. A follow-up presentation will be 1:30 p.m. at the Copperas Cove Senior Center. Call 254-547-3826.

Cove food drive Nov. 22

A food drive will be held from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 22 outside H-E-B Plus in Copperas Cove. All food collected will stay in Copperas Cove. Call 254-394-2767.

VFW Post 8577 and its auxiliary announce scholarship program

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8577 and Ladies Auxiliary announce the Veterans of Foreign Wars Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen Scholarship programs. The purpose of this program is to encourage high school students to compete for national scholarships by writing scripts on a patriotic theme and recording their messages on tape.
