COPPERAS COVE – One man perished early Friday morning when a vehicle crashed into a two-story office building on U.S. Highway 190 and caught fire, according to a Copperas Cove Fire Department news release.

Three fire engines, two ambulances and one command unit were dispatched at 2:47 a.m. Friday to the accident scene at 2210 E. Hwy 190. Upon arrival, they found a car lying on its side against the front of the building. The car, the building front and an office unit were engulfed in flames.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and found the man inside the vehicle.

“Once the flames were extinguished a person was found to be inside of the car and was determined to be deceased,” the news release stated.

Police did not release the identity of the deceased man who was in the car.

Fire officials are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
