National Night Out activities planned

National Night Out festivities will start with the Kick Off Party from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 28.

The event, hosted by the Copperas Cove Police Department, will be held in downtown Copperas Cove.

Snacks, soft drinks and snow cones will be served. There will be children and adult activities and door prizes. Some events are free, others are 25 cents each.

The 30th Annual National Night Out will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 1. National Night out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and let criminals know that neighborhoods fight back. Suggested activities include block parties, cookouts, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anti-crime and drug rallies.

Block party registration forms can be obtained by calling Cpl. Dominique Moore at 254-547-8222 Ext. 6898 or dmoore@copperascovetx.gov or can be picked up at the Copperas Cove Police Department.
