The Quarterback Club met at Lil’ Tex Restaurant on Monday night, but it wasn’t an ordinary meeting.

Volunteers who had worked at the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs games were invited to join the members for a meal, in gratitude for the time they spent supporting the high school teams so far this year.

“You get going during the season and you don’t have time to thank those who work in the concession stands and all,” said Jack Welch, Quarterback Club adviser.

The Quarterback Club is one of the “sub-clubs” of the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs Booster Club, according to Welch.

The members support all the high school teams, such as power lifting, baseball, softball, track, swimming and golf.

“There are so many activities our kids are involved in,” Welch said. “There’s something special about Copperas Cove.”

The Quarterback Club raises funds throughout the year for projects including buying weights for the high school’s weight room and redoing the benches, Welch said.

Anyone interested in joining the Quarterback Club or volunteering at spring sports events should call Charles Lyons at 254-290-0730.
