Needs 4 Real is holding a donation drive for school supplies to benefit Copperas Cove area families in need.

“You can donate anything from money to school supplies,” said Shelia Creer, founder of Needs 4 Real. “We appreciate any help.”

The community has to come together as one to help one another, she said.

“We tend to forget there are parents out there who are struggling and trying to do the right thing for their kids and themselves,” Creer said.

“We need to let parents know that there’s someone out there who wants to help. Then the kids can look at the community’s efforts and use that as an inspiration to help someone else.”

Creer’s struggles as a single parent inspired her to create Needs 4 Real in January.

“At the beginning of the year I was going through some financial difficulties,” Creer said. “I have two older kids, and I know what I went through trying to get stuff for them for school, so I wanted to try and help some other parent to alleviate that stress.”

Creer asks that monetary donations be made by Aug. 20, but she will accept them after that date. To make a donation, call Creer at 254-415-1502 or email screer@hot.rr.com. Donations can also be dropped off at the Needs 4 Real store at 216 South 2nd St., Copperas Cove.

Donations will be handed out at the store on an “as needed” basis, Creer said.
