COPPERAS COVE — Police on Sunday arrested a woman suspected of carrying two syringes loaded with methamphetamine and scouring through someone’s trash.

Justice of the Peace Bill Price arraigned Jamie Lynn Finch on Monday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, more than 1 gram but less than 4 grams. He set her bond at $5,000.

According to an arrest complaint, a patrol officer was in the 700 block of North Second Street on Sunday when he noticed two women going through trash.

The officer stopped the women as they tried to leave the scene and told them they were violating city ordinance — “unauthorized handling of garbage and trash prohibited” — because they were not permitted to handle someone else’s trash, stated the complaint.

While talking to the women, the officer reportedly noticed one of the women, Finch, appeared to be on narcotics.

The officer asked Finch if she was OK, and she supposedly said several people asked her the same question already on Sunday, stated the complaint. The officer then asked her if he could search a bag that supposedly belonged to her.

Finch allegedly agreed to the search and then told the officer there was “meth” inside the bag, stated the complaint. During the search, the officer found a number of syringes, two which were reportedly “loaded” with the drug.

In an unrelated incident, Price arraigned Dusty Ryan Joy on Sunday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram. He set his bond at $5,000.
