The Friends of the Library will start their weeklong book sale Monday, and they have several tables of books ready at the Copperas Cove Public Library. The sale will run Monday through Saturday and is open during the library’s normal business hours.
“It’s a great place to look for books and get some early Christmas gifts,” library Director Kevin Marsh said. “Paperbacks make some great stocking stuffers.”
Speaking of Christmas, the library’s big event in December will be the family Christmas party from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 14.
Marsh said Santa Claus will be at the party and a local choir will be there singing and leading Christmas carols.
“We are also going to have a lot of cookies and waffles for people to eat,” Marsh said. “There will also be plenty to do; we are going to have several crafts available for both kids and adults. One of the crafts is going to be candlemaking.”
Regarding the entire month of December, Marsh said the weekends are packed. They aren’t just filled with library events, either, as many local organizations and clubs have signed out the meeting room during the month.
Because of this, some of the usual events are meeting at unusual times.
“We are actually going to have our gaming on Friday, Dec. 15, from noon until 4 p.m. this month just because that Saturday is booked,” Marsh said. “But we are going to have a lot going on; in addition to the usual Dungeons & Dragons, we are also going to have the Xbox hooked up for people to use.”
For the first full week of December, just the traditional events are scheduled, aside from the Friends of the Library book sale.
The Writers Group will meet at their normal time Thursday, and the Double C Square Dance group will host a square dance Friday at 6:30 p.m.
