Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and the staff and volunteers at the Copperas Cove Public Library are preparing for the festivities with a few parties.

Both parties are for the little ones and will be held during the usual Toddler Time and Story Time. The first party will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday for children ages 1 to 3, and the second party will be at 10 a.m. Thursday for kids ages 3 to 5.

The Double C Square Dance group will be hosting square dance lessons at the library from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The lessons are to prepare attendees for the group’s bi-monthly dances at the library every other Friday. One dance is tonight, and the next dance will be Feb. 23.

The library will also offer e-book help from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday. The service is designed to help readers new to digital reading devices learn how to check out electronic books from the library over the internet.

Tax season is still going strong, which means the library is seeing a steady influx of residents hoping to get free tax help from the AARP.

Every Wednesday, the organization hosts a free tax preparation clinic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for residents.

The clinic is first come, first served, so library staff recommends anyone who needs help should get to the library as early as possible.

The Maker’s Club will be meeting at the library from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday to discuss the projects they have been working on and to get feedback on future activities.

On Thursday, area teenagers are invited to the monthly Teen Reading Group, which offers free pizza and games and gives the library a chance to show off some of the new teen novels it has acquired in the past month. The group meets from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
