Cove Meadows Management presented the Copperas Cove Education Foundation with a $25,000 donation to help fund school programs.

“It’s an amazing thing,” said Bradi Diaz, president of the education foundation. “This donation will help us meet and exceed our fundraising goals for this year.”

“All of the money received by the education foundation goes towards furthering programs for (the Copperas Cove Independent School District),” said Olga Peña, a spokeswoman for the district.

The education foundation’s primary function is to provide teachers and their schools with grants that pay for innovative and enriching programs not covered by state or federal tax-based funding.

Clubs 4 Kids, an after-school program that gives elementary students a chance to do everything from science experiments to painting, is one such program.

The donation came as somewhat of a surprise to the foundation, Diaz said.

“Cove Meadows has been one of our most integral donors,” she said. “We had heard that we might not be receiving as much from them this year due to budget constraints … the significant donation was a huge surprise for the board.

“It thrills me to know what this means for the kids.”

This sentiment was echoed by Inez Faison, a school board trustee and treasurer of the Cove Meadows Management nonprofit organization. Faison presented the check to the foundation.

“We like to give back to our community, and one way we do it is by contributing to organizations that benefit kids,” Faison said. “We hope that this helps give them a jump-start.”

Cove Meadows Management also contributes to the Copperas Cove Boys & Girls Club and local programs that benefit senior citizens.
