On the heels of handing San Angelo Central its first District 8-6A loss Friday, Copperas Cove was unable to maintain the momentum Wednesday.

The Bulldawgs trailed 2-0 following the first inning at Harker Heights and never fully recovered, falling 4-3 after Knights’ standout Daniel Cole connected on a game-deciding solo home run in the sixth inning.

Copperas Cove tied the contest 3-3 in the fourth inning thanks to a two-run error by the Knights but could not take control.

Tyler Ingram went 2 for 4 for the Bulldawgs in defeat, while Michael Goudeau, Colby Jost and Peyton Fox each recorded a hit.

In its previous outing, Copperas Cove responded to losing a 3-0 lead after giving up four runs in the top of the fifth by score three unanswered en route to a 6-5 win against the Bobcats.

Goudeau and Cedric Camacho each had two of the Bulldawgs’ seven hits in the victory, while pitcher Jaylen Smith earned the win.
