The Bulldawgs landed two players on the recently released 8-6A All-District Team.

Junior guard Quinton Ford and teammate Neyland Block, a senior guard, were each placed on the second team.

Additionally, three more Copperas Cove players were recognized as honorable mentions with seniors Justus Honea and Jyhlil Rice and junior Tyrese Taylor making the list.

The Bulldawgs all-academic selections include Jacob Carter, Honea and Rice.

Ellison senior Casey Armour was named most valuable player after leading the Eagles to a share of the district championship, while co-title holder Waco Midway produced the offensive player of the year (Anthony Scott) and newcomer of the year (Diego Gonzalez).

Shoemaker junior Jwan Roberts was named defensive player of the year, and Ellison’ Alberto Jones Jr. and Midway’s Brad Chasteen split coach of the year honors.


The Lady Bulldawgs earned a 2-1 victory in their home finale against Harker Heights on Tuesday.

Emily Cason recorded the first goal five minutes into the match off an assist from Mariah Ruiz, and Copperas Cove pushed its lead to 2-0 approximately 18 minutes last as Haven Stevenson sent a header into the net.

The Lady Knights scored a goal early in the second half, but could not get any closer.

At Harker Heights, the Bulldawgs suffered a 2-1 loss.

James Ross scored Copperas Cove’s lone goal on a penalty kick after Caden Chapman was fouled in the box.

Copperas Cove concludes the regular season tonight against Killeen. The Bulldawgs will host the Kangaroos, while the Lady Bulldawgs will travel for their match.


The Bulldawgs improved to 10-0-1 with a 6-4 victory at Salado on Tuesday.

Cameron Johnson allowed three hits and struck out 10 batters in six innings of work, while teammate Brian Hodges was 2 for 3, including a double, with a pair of RBIs and a run scored for Copperas Cove. Additionally, Michael Goudeau was 2 for 4 with a RBI.

The Bulldawgs are competing in the Bastrop tournament this weekend.


The Lady Bulldawgs lost their second consecutive game to begin district play Tuesday, falling 12-7 at San Angelo Central.

Copperas Cove will look to end the skid today, hosting Ellison at 7 p.m.


The Bulldawgs and Lady Bulldawgs return to competition today, taking part in the Killeen ISD Relays.

Field events begin at 2 p.m. with the running events starting at 6 p.m.
