Thanks in part to sophomore Jayda Carter’s big bat, the Lady Bulldawgs are returning to the playoffs for fifth consecutive season.
Leading 5-4 at Harker Heights last week, Carter connected on a three-run home run in top of the seventh inning, propelling Coppera Cove to an 8-4 victory and clinching at least the fourth seed in District 8-6A.
The Lady Bulldawgs maintained the momentum Tuesday, beating Killeen 9-2.
Copperas Cove is 16-10-1 overall with an 8-5 showing in district, and the Lady Bulldawgs enter tonight’s regular season finale against Belton with a one-game lead over San Angelo Central (13-14, 7-6) for third place.
The Lady Tigers can clinch the district championship with a win and a Waco Midway loss at Ellison.
Central is playing at Shoemaker. The Lady Grey Wolves are 1-12 in district.
