Jameill Showers signed a national letter of intent Tuesday to play his final two years of college football eligibility at the University of Texas-El Paso, his father James Showers confirmed Tuesday evening.

Jameill Showers, the former Shoemaker quarterback who led the Grey Wolves to their only playoff appearance in school history, spent last season backing up Heisman Trophy-winner Johnny Manziel at Texas A&M. Before that, he was Ryan Tannehill's backup.

After receiving interest from a number of schools and visiting the University of Houston, Showers met with Miner's first-year head coach Sean Kugler on the El Paso campus this past weekend.
