Shoppers at the Warrior Way Specialty Store and Clear Creek Main Exchange can spread some Valentine's Day love to veterans this month.

For the second year, the Army and Air Force Exchange Service is allowing shoppers to show their appreciation of veterans by filling out a valentine in-store through their Valentines for Veterans campaign.

AAFES will deliver the valentines to the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System in Temple and to the Fisher House in time for Valentine's Day.

"Our shoppers include many veterans and their families who know what it means to serve, and understand how nice it is to be remembered," said Paula Gunderson, exchange general manager. "'Valentines for Veterans' is an opportunity for our patrons to reach out to those who've already served and send their greetings."

Valentine stations will be on display in the front of both stores through Monday. Cards are provided, but shoppers are also welcome to drop off their own.

Last year, about 150 valentines were delivered through the program, said Cathy Orona, manager of the Clear Creek Main Exchange.

"It's just something to give back to the veterans," she said. "It's like in school when kids hand out valentine cards. It's just fun."

Maj. Sondra Wilkerson, 180th Transportation Battalion, 4th Sustainment Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command, said filling out a valentine card was the least she could do for veterans.

"They've done so much and it's paved the way for what we do now," she said.
