Fort Hood Family Housing receives award

Fort Hood Family Housing received a National Night Out Award for the third consecutive year. The winning categories include Military Participation and Neighborhood/Communities.

National Night Out kicked off Aug. 6 at Hood Stadium and concluded with block parties Oct. 1.

National Night Out is a national event that encourages residents to attend block parties and other social events as a stand against crime and an opportunity to meet and get to know those in their community. In previous years, the installation hosted two different events, one at Bronco Youth Center and another at Smith Middle School. This year, one consolidated event was held at the stadium with more than 1,750 in attendance. In October, nine families registered National Night Out block parties with a total of 280 participants.

“I am very pleased that Fort Hood Family Housing continues to win this award. It is a testament to the hard work that our staff and all of the Fort Hood participants put into this event,” said Mack Quinney, project director for Fort Hood Family Housing. “National Night Out is a wonderful way for our residents to get know their neighbors, our staff, the programs we offer, and to meet people from various Fort Hood directorates.”
