Fort Hood soldier 1st Lt. Matthew Philbin, son of Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin, faced with a third-degree felony charge of failure to stop and render aid, postponed his pretrial court appearance until Aug. 18.

Philbin, 26, was arrested April 29 in connection with a March 23 crash in Austin. Philbin was allegedly driving the wrong way down a one-way street, and struck another vehicle.

He subsequently left the scene, leaving a 22-year-old crash victim behind, police said.

Travis County officials said it could be several months until Philbin reaches a plea bargain with the state or goes to trial.
